At CIVIX, we are committed to making political information accessible, transparent, and engaging for young voters. Since 2018, our mission has been to help young people navigate the complexities of Belgian politics and make informed voting decisions. In 2019, we launched our first digital platform, helping over 68,000 users compare political party programs and understand electoral issues. The platform registered over 250,000 visits, highlighting the demand for clear and structured political information.
Ahead of the June 2024 federal and regional elections and the October 2024 municipal elections, we took this initiative even further by developing an AI-powered chatbot—a revolutionary tool designed to simplify political programs and empower voters with fact-based, sourced answers to their questions.
Political programs are often dense, with each party’s program averaging 500 pages—an overwhelming amount of information for many voters. Our chatbot was built to break down these complex documents into clear, digestible insights, allowing citizens to:
✅ Compare political programs based on the themes that matter most to them
✅ Explore candidate profiles and make informed choices
✅ Ask personalized questions and receive AI-generated responses, with full transparency on sources
The chatbot, available for free at vote.civix.be, was developed by a diverse team of students and young professionals in Belgium, ensuring an interactive and engaging experience for users.
Since its launch, the CIVIX AI Chatbot has:
📌 Processed over 200,000 user requests
📌 Handled peak usage of tens of thousands of users simultaneously
📌 Answered over 17,000 questions from Belgian voters
By providing fact-checked, sourced responses, our chatbot helped reduce uninformed voting, ensuring that young voters could cast their ballots with confidence.
Beyond the Chatbot: CIVIX’s Broader Engagement
Alongside this digital initiative, CIVIX has been actively involved in on-the-ground voter education, including:
📌 Interactive workshops in secondary schools, reaching hundreds of young first-time voters
📌 Large-scale political events, such as our March 2024 conference at ULB, where over 350 young people engaged in discussions with party leaders
📌 A strong social media presence, ensuring accessible and engaging content for young voters
Our approach remains strictly neutral and impartial, ensuring that all our activities align with a clear neutrality charter. CIVIX is financed through a combination of public funding, grants, and crowdfunding, allowing us to maintain our independence.
